Improving Your Car

Do you remember the first time you got a new car? My first vehicle was a hand-me-down from my parents, and although it wasn't the nicest car, it was all I needed to get out on the town and enjoy a night out with my friends. Over time, I became quite the car enthusiast, and I learned how to make things right one problem at a time. It was incredible to see how much of a difference my efforts made, and within no time, I really felt like I had a handle on my vehicle. This blog is all about automotive care. Check it out!

4 Auto Collision Repair Myths - Busted!

There's a lot of inaccurate information (myths) about auto collision repairs that many people believe is true. These myths make it difficult for people looking for auto collision repair to get the best possible repair services. This article explores the myths about collision repairs and debunks them to ensure you stay informed and access top-notch services.

Myth 1: You Must Use Collision Repair Services Approved By Your Insurance Provider

Your insurance company might recommend auto collision repair shops for you to use. However, you're not obligated to use the repair shops recommended. If there's an auto repair shop you prefer to use, have them repair your car. But you must ensure that they accept payment from insurance companies. You must also note that hiring the services of a recommended repair shop helps speed up settling all payment issues.

Myth 2: Your Insurance Pays For All Collision Repair Costs

This myth is prevalent, but it's untrue. Your car insurance provider helps pay part of the repair costs if they have exceeded your deductible. To put this into perspective, assuming the total repair costs of your car is two thousand dollars and your deductible is one thousand dollars. You will pay the one thousand dollars deductible, and your insurance company will cover the additional one thousand dollars. However, you should remember that insurance companies only pay the additional costs up to your coverage limit. Anything above your coverage limit, you'll have to pay out of your pocket.

Myth 3: You Must Have 3 Estimates Before Your Insurance Pays The Collision Repair Costs

Insurance providers often push this myth. However, in most states, the law doesn't require car owners to present multiple estimates for the insurance provider to pay for the repairs. While your insurance company might recommend multiple estimates, it is not necessary. Therefore, you can seek recommendations for a good auto collision repairs shop, obtain the estimated cost for fixing your car and present it to the insurance company.

Myth 4: It's Impossible To Fix A Damaged Frame

It's only impossible to fix your car's body frame if the damage has permanently weakened the frame beyond repair. Luckily, modern vehicles come equipped with a unibody frame (the car's body is part of the frame). And unibody frames are easier to fix when damaged since they're manufactured in parts. With the help of an experienced collision repair technician, the removal and replacement of the damaged section are done to perfection to restore your car to its previous condition.

Bottom Line

The above are the most common auto collision repair myths and are difficult to dispel. So, expect to hear about them every once in a while.
